This was my first guided hunt and I wasn’t sure what to expect. There was ample opportunity to ask questions before the hunt but I had so many I didn’t know where to start so I just played it by ear and brought myself and two of my boys all the way from West Virginia on an elk/deer combo hunt for the early rifle season.
As soon as we made it to camp we felt like we’d found a new family. Everyone made us feel welcome and it seemed they were genuinely excited for the hunters to be there in camp.
At first we had some intermittent bad weather but I couldn’t think of any better way to spend a dreary day than in front of a fire sharing tall tales and life stories with the crew.
When the weather cleared I think it gave everyone some extra drive to get out there and make it happen.
Our guide was able to put us on some action. He developed an expert game plan and we were able to get meat on the ground (just so you know I’m writing this testimonial with a belly full of elk tenderloin.)
It was definitely a successful hunt in all ways and was not just about getting meat on the ground. My boys and me had the time of our lives and hated to leave such good company.
Our hats are off to Joe, Johnny and the crew! I will never hunt Idaho with any crew but the Selway Ridgerunner Outfitters!
