I am not sure how you put into words, A Dream Come True!! My buddy of over 20 years told me we were going on a mountain lion hunt, which was something I truly never even thought about. After doing a bunch of research, and watching countless videos, he had me hooked and I needed to get it done. We picked the right outfitters for the job, Selway Ridgerunners are a top-notch outfit. From the insane talent that each of the houndsmen/guides have, to the killer cooks, to even getting Joe to play the guitar for us; hands down they are the best in the business.
The weather would not cooperate for us, as snow is crucial when tracking down these apex predators. That did not stop the Ridgerunner boys from finding a track and doing everything they could to get the Tom treed. We were listening to the race and the nerves we were feeling were intense. Joe looked and Ed and I and said its time to go if you want to make it to the tree in before dark. We had him flip a coin, and we were on our way to put our bodies and minds to the test. We finally got to the tree and we could not believe our eyes. There was a big, beautiful Tom in the tree that I could not watch any longer if I was going to make the arrow hit is mark with my nerves. It was a quick, and clean harvest and we all began to hug and celebrate. Believe me when I tell you that words cannot describe this experience at all. From the amount of energy that was put into it, the adrenaline, the nerves, the tears in our eyes, and the sense of accomplishment, we did it. We harvested a cat that very well may/should make the records books, at over 160lbs, 8ft 8 in length, we are just waiting on the skull measurement. Even with a lion like that, the greatest trophy was the lifelong friends we have made. We will be back to Elk hunt, Bobcat hunt, Bear hunt, Turkey hunt, Fish, and drink a few cold ones with our family from Idaho. Thank you very much Joe, Kim, Jason, Will, Stevie, Craig, and Trisha for everything!!!
